The GUNi International Call for Action seeks to open-up the debate on the future of higher education institutions within the current decade, provide with new and inspiring visions for HEIs & guide and support them in their transformation processes to become more relevant, inclusive, sustainable, innovative and socially responsible.
The “GUNi International Call for Action (2022–2025): Rethinking HEIs for Sustainable and Inclusive Societies” will constitute one of GUNi’s key strategic lines of action for 2022-2025. This ambitious project seeks to open up the debate on the future of Higher Education Institutions(HEIs) in the current decade, providing new and inspiring visions for HEIs around the world and encourage, guide and support them to deploy actions and transformative changes to become more relevant, inclusive, sustainable, innovative and socially responsible. The project has a mid-term vision and will run from 2022 to 2025.
In this context, the 8th Higher Education in the World Report “New Visions for Higher Education towards 2030” creates a space for active transformation and constitutes the steppingstone for the International Call for Action and the following GUNi activities and initiatives to foster debate around the globe, support HEIs and promote capacity building.
What makes the report unique is that it will be a living document. Throughout the period 2022-2025, new contributions will be added in the form of papers, videos, interviews and podcasts, giving voice and bearing witness to new ideas, contributions and actions relating to higher education institutions and systems as they move in the direction of Agenda 2030 along the lines marked out by the GUNi vision. The overarching aim is for the International Call for Action and the Report’s website to become a key open space for contributions to the transformation of HEIs around the world.
